Barn Owl

soft pastels

Story
When I went out west I visited a bird sanctuary at the High Dessert Museum in Bend, Oregon.  There were various birds of prey there that had been rescued from various life-threatening situations.  During one lecture, several birds were lined up with chains on their legs so we could study them while the lecture was given.  I took pictures of the barn owl and then later painted him. I took his chains off and put him on a tree branch in a snowy scene.
