Story
My cousin, Bill, and his wife Carol love exploring with their airboat down the St. John’s River off the coast of Florida near Merritt Island where they live. Many of Florida’s unique creatures can be easily viewed from the boat. Ali, their newly adopted child from China, soon learned to love these trips too. She is depicted here in the airboat on a cool day with her beloved little stuff lamb wearing her Davey Crockett hat looking like the little China Doll that she is.
If you look deeply into Ali's eyes, you will see the world as a child sees it. Although vulnerable and small, children are strong and grow with love and warm touch, even if from a make-believe animal.  Children in China are abandoned on the streets and fill the orphanages, especially little girls and those with disabilities.  Ali is so happy to be in America with two loving parents who cherish her every single living moment, and who know first hand the tragedy of losing a precious child of their own.
This painting was my gift to the Alvord Family to forever hold in their hearts the power of love and the promise of renewed happiness with their gift of Ali.
