Forever
in my heart
Although
I'm not their owner,
I
cared for them each day.
I
cuddled, hugged, and loved them
and
joined them in their play.
I
saw each new accomplishment
and
watched them grow and learn.
when
they came to me for comfort,
I
kissed them with concern.
No
I'm not their owner
but
my role is just as strong.
I
nurture them and keep them safe,
though
maybe not for long.
I
know that the day will come
when
we will have to part
but
each and every puppy
I
help raise..............
is
forever in my heart!
Lina

|
Roxie
Tom and Cathy drove from Iowa to
choose one of our girls. They had a poodle, "Lucy" in the
past and were ready for a new companion to join their family.
Update: Roxie is doing very well. Next
week we complete Puppy Kindergarten at Spot & Company.
Roxie is becoming a loving member of the family and is loved by our 7
year old grand daughter who has been with us for the past 2 1/2 weeks.
Roxie is sort of entering her teenage stage. She will look at us
sometimes when called and you can see the wheels turning her in
head...should I come or pretend I didn't hear?
|
|

|
Ginette now "Annie"
Carol from South East Michigan
contacted us to add one of our girls to her family which also consists
of a cream male standard.
|
 |
Rivers Edge Gallant Gil
"Star Buck" as he has been nicknamed has been accepted
into the "Paws with a Cause" program to be trained as a
service dog.
|
|

|
Mia
Mia has gone to live with Julie and girls from South
East Michigan and Dexter who was also one of our first boys
born here at the farm. We were very happy when Julie contacted us
about adding another one of our poos to their family. And we are sure
Dexter will be pleased to meet his little niece, Mia too.
Update: We got an update about Mia.....Mia
is settling in to her new surroundings. She was pretty shy at
first with us and Dex, but now she is totally at home. When Dex
and Mia are playing, she will roll on to her back and whine, and then
the minute he turns her head - watch out! They are becoming
pals. Dex has a new shadow, and it makes my heart very glad.

Gabrielle now
"Rivers Edge Ella"
Christy and Stan from Michigan.....a
community near by visited us a couple of years ago to
familiarize themselves with the poodle breed. We reconnected with them
this spring when sadly they lost their Golden Retriever, "Le
Chien" to Cancer. Christy has hopes of having Ella join her at
work which would include therapy visits.
Update: Wow! What a wonderful poodle!
Since she has been with us(three days) Ella has learned her name, to
fetch her ball on the "ready, set, go!" phrase, to
"bring it back!", to sit, and no (which we haven't needed to
say very often. You guys do a great job with these puppies. Just now I
put her leash on, which she hasn't "got" before. Lo and
behold, she began to walk about the rest of the yard, ON THE LEASH!!
We ended up taking a walk around the entire block! This makes me very
happy because I am so looking forward to walking at length with her
for company.
New Update: Hi
Gina and Lina!
Tho't you might like
a photo of "Ella" (formerly Gabrielle). She enjoyed the
groomers today, cooperated well for the
most part, except for a bit of a close shave
between the eyes when she moved! We
have 3 obedience classes under our belts and are both learning a
lot; I think she, quicker than
me, sometimes! Jennifer says Ella is very intelligent and learns
quickly: sit,
sit/stay, heel, down and come, have all been pretty much mastered.
And, oh, does she love to WALK with me!
Yeah!! By the way, housebreaking was fairly
easy. . .haven't had any "accidents" in weeks:) We
are both so happy we chose to bring Ella into our home and lives.
And, at least 1 of our 4
housecats really enjoys playing with her (the other 3 tolerate!)
Thanks so much for letting me know she
was available. She's a part of the family!

Our Mona and Chase fall litter 07

|
|

|
Fabian now "Gus"
Jim from South East Michigan
contacted us about a male puppy and decided on Mona's only boy in this
litter. After corresponding back and forth, a date for meeting and
picking up our little guy was decided upon. What Jim didn't know was
that his wife and daughter made arrangements to come to our farm on an
earlier date and bring Gus home surprising him.
Update: Jim
called to tell us what a wonderful surprise his family gave to
him.........and that he couldn't be happier with his new boy. They
spent the next day outside in the snow playing and enjoying each
others new friendship.

Fiona officially aka
"Ref Tomboy Fiona Chases Mona" and new family
Bonnie and Gordon from the Detroit area
told us they were looking for a special puppy that could possibly get
into retrieving. We chose Fiona for them and upon coming up and
meeting her, they couldn't have been more happier.
Update after one month: Bonnie
wrote to us ........."All is well with Fiona. She is about a
perfect dog. She walks on a lead very well. I took her into the swamp
marsh and she loves it there. She really focuses on the birds. She
sits very well and knows down/stay in brief. She is my little shadow.
She is a wonderful dog and we feel very lucky to have her. Can't thank
the both of you enough for trusting us with Fiona."
New Update08: We got a surprise visit
from Fiona and family and it was nice to see how Fiona is developing.
If her health testing all turns out by the time she is two, we will be
getting a puppy back from her first litter to complete her sale
contract....(photo to the left) Bonnie mentioned that she
couldn't remember life before Fiona, she is just the greatest dog.

|
Faleeza now "Maya"
and new mom
Becky contacted us from the Illinois/Iowa
border area. After doing much research about standard poodles,
she felt they would fit her lifestyle. She is a trained pet groomer.
She fell in love with her neighbor's poodle (toy) during her
childhood. What really impressed us about Becky is that she was
willing to drive the long distance "all in one day" through
our wintery, January weather to fulfill her dream of having a poodle
in her life. Thanks.....Becky for
welcoming one of our girls into your life.
Update:Hello Gina and Lina! The
puppy is doing great! We ended up staying in MI for the night cuz the
snow got so bad! Shes warming up to the house and everything, although
she hasn't gotten the hang of the stairs! So far potty
training is going good, and she walks on a leash wonderfully (for
the most part). Yeah, we're happy! becky-
Becky updated us.............
Hello! Well, I did pick a name (like...a month ago!) but yeah I
figured I should let you guys know! Her name is Maya! Shes
fitting in very nicely with our lifestyle, loves walks and playing
with our grumpy old man cat! She is fine with my bunny too~ she brings
the bunny her toys and play bows to her. The bunny thinks its all fun
and games until the dog stares at her too long! I saw you had
more puppies...cute! Maybe someday I'll get that apricot or cream I've
always wanted...hmmm ... Thanks again! -Becky-
p.s. heres a pic I took today- shes not looking so 'puppy' anymore!
Shes only at 25 lbs so far - but shes ALL LEGS! Shes in one of her
favorite spots- laying on the pillows in the bed! Silly doggie.... :)
Update08:Hello!
Maya is doing good. She has decided that she's a guard dog! She's
quite the showy girl, always getting the attention where ever we go. I
can't even take her for a walk without hearing 'oh look!!! a
POOOOOOODLE!'. They aren't that common I guess. There are some at the
local dog park- and just between us- she's the best looking one there
without a doubt. Even nicer than the 'show' poo that shows up! (Every
day I swear she gets more and more beautiful (unless she's getting
into the garbage, lol).

Fina Lina and new family
Amy from the Chicago area contacted
us about our Fina Lina. She is a competition groomer and was searching
for a new puppy because she had just lost her adult poodle and
was missing his company. We had another snow storm the day that Amy
was due to drive up to our farm but she arrived safely to meet our
little girl. She believes Fina Lina's coat hair will be perfect for
scissoring in competitions. We look forward to hearing how they do in
the future......Thanks, AMY

Bella
Bethany and Dave from Mid
Michigan chose "Bella" for their family which
includes their three young boys. Bethany has since told us that...
"Bella loves to play with the boys. She is a beautiful little
puppy and full of mischief.............We really enjoy our
Bella."

|
Sophie
Georgiana and Fred from Massachusetts
already had one of our pups from 3 years ago and decided it was time
to give "Andre" a playmate. They chose our cream girl and
gave her the name Sophie.
They have sent us many photo updates to let us know how
great she has settled in with Andre.
We couldn't have been more thrilled when Georgiana contacted us
about adding one of our little girls to their family. We have kept in
touch ever since Andre found his way into their hearts and have
enjoyed watching him grow up in their home.........Thanks sooo much
Georgiana and Fred!!

Lady
Fair Francessa aka "Chessie"
Felicia from South East Michigan
drove up with grown daughter Aleta to help her pick out one of our
black girls. They decided on the larger of the two remaining and
Felicia has since informed us how lady like "Chessie" is
when it comes to eating. She is now working on leash training.
|
|
Ivy O
Reilly
Betsy and Family drove up from Indiana
to take our little apricot girl home with them. Betsy has since let us
know that "Ivy is doing very well with potty training and has
already found her special spot in the yard. We are all enjoying her
very much. She is quite bouncy during playtime but can also be very
calm and loving."

NewUpdate:08
Lina
and Gina
Here
is a picture of Ivy taken yesterday evening. She is such a happy
girl, and attracts a lot of attention where ever we go. Ivy does
not know a stranger. We all love her so much. Just wanted to
send you a quick update! Hope you are both well. Betsy and

Ebonee now
"Sassy"
Linda and her family which consists of four children came from Lower
East Michigan determined to take home two of our girls
preferably and black and cream. After some debate as to who got to
pick who, it was finally decided that our Chenille and Ebonee would
get to go home with them. They would also be joining a miniature
poodle. Linda has since let us know that "Lacy" and
"Sassy" are doing great and the kids are ecstatic to have
two new playmates.

Raven
now "Buddy"
Sandy and her 7 year old daughter, Amber drove up from Lower
West Michigan to visit with our Raven and see whether he would
fit in with their family. Sandy was looking for a puppy that could
possibly work out to be a service dog for Amber. Sandy has since told
us that Raven is now "Buddy" and has started to settle in
nicely. He has learned a number of things in the short time with them
and we hope to get some photos of him and his new family soon.

Update08: photo from Sandy of
Amber and Buddy
We are VERY proud of this boy and will be devoting a page to
him and his home with Amber soon!

Max
Carol from West Michigan
decided on one of our silver boys to join her and her horses. She is
planning on "Max" as she named him to follow her on her
trail rides and going for nice long walks. She has called to tell us
that he is an AWESOME PUPPY and she is really impressed how he walks
so proudly next to her on his leash.
|
|

|
Ardy
John and Linda from Michigan's Upper
Peninsula had previously owned standards in the past and
decided that one of our creamy apricot boys would fit in with their
family which also consists of a Bichon. They have decided on naming
their new little guy, Ardy.
Linda has told us that Ardy is doing great and enjoying playtime
with his new friend, their Bichon.
|
|

|
Ray now "Julien"
Liz and family contacted us from Northern
Michigan about our cream boy, Ray. They had recently lost their
poodle, Buster and was very much missing having a poodle in their
family.
Liz has told us that "Julien" has settled in nicely
and one of his favorite things to do is cuddle up at bedtime with
daughter Elizabeth.
|
 |
Chenille now
"Lacy"
Linda and her family which consists of four children came from Lower
East Michigan determined to take home two of our girls
preferably and black and cream. After some debate as to who got to
pick who, it was finally decided that our Chenille, one of Angelique's
girls and Ebonee, one of Gidget's girls would get to go home with
them. They would also be joining a miniature poodle. Linda has since
let us know that "Lacy" and "Sassy" are doing
great and the kids are ecstatic to have two new playmates.

Here is an updated photo08 of Lacy.........A Poodle's Life!

|

|
Spur
now "Dexter"
Teri and family from Traverse City,
Michigan contacted us about the possibility of adding our
silver boy, Spur to their family which already consisted of one of
Mona and Rene's pups from their 05 litter. They were a bit
hesitant about adopting a 5 month old puppy but really liked Spur and
wanted to give it a try. Teri has since told us..."he
is doing so well, we are letting him stretch his legs at night and
sleep with us and Gilmore, instead of his crate. He has his own
bed/pillow and has been really good about waking us up if he needs to
go out."
|
|

|
Chiffon
Cheryl contacted us about adding our Chiffon to their family
because they were missing they former blue standard poodle, Andre.
They drove up from the Chicago, IL area
and fell in love with Chiffon. Cheryl has let us know that she is
getting used to her new surroundings and has made quite an impression
on the whole family.
Update08: "Gina, Chiffon is doing well and
happy with us as you can see. She has a great personality (she
makes me belly laugh on most days.) Cheryl"

|

|
Velvet
Velvet is a blue. It was a hard decision but we felt she
was the pick female puppy of this litter so she stayed here at
RiversEdge. She has been started in a handling class and is doing
great. She stacks beautifully and is a graceful mover.
|
|

|
Unique
This girl is our first multicolored from Angelique. She is
considered a sable. She has somewhat of a bubbly personality and after
being introduced with strangers, will give you a quick little kiss.
Unique has her own page linked from our Particolored
page.

Tommy
now "Spencer's new family"
Linda and family from Wisconsin
contacted us about adding Tommy to their
family which already included one of our past puppy boys, Bentley.
Linda has since told us, "Tommy is
doing fantastic. His new name is going to be Spencer. He and Bentley
are getting along fine. They love to play. He is a sweetheart and
adjusting well."
Update: Photo to the left is of Spencer
all grown up with his buddy/uncle, Bentley
New Update08:
Dear Lina and Gina,
I think it's been over a year since I sent you a picture of Bentley
and Spencer.
They are both healthy and a wonderful part of our family.
Spencer will chase a ball for as long as we will throw it. When the
boys throw a Frisbee or football around in the yard, Spencer will run
between them, always hopeful that they are actually throwing it for
him. He doesn't quit until the boys do. Bentley is much
more laid back, but he loves to play with Spencer, to take walks, and
go for rides in the car. Bentley also has a sweet tooth and will steal
cookies off the counter if he gets the chance.
He puts those long legs to good use!
Hope all is well with your family. Linda

Max
Max's original owner could no longer keep him so he came home
for a bit and while we were enjoying our reunion for awhile, we were
referred by his sire's owner to Mary Lyn from Mid Michigan. She was
looking for an older pup to join their family and so after making a
visit to our farm to meet Max, Mary Lyn and Roger decided to bring Max
into their home.
Update: Mary Lyn sent us this photo among
others of Max enjoying a camping vacation with them.

Zor and Lexi's new Dad
Roger from Illinois decided he
wanted two poo babies from us and chose a brother and sister. They are
keeping him quite busy. Roger has written to us, "I
just wanted to let you know the pups are doing fine. They are
certainly a hand full. Zor is more confident and as such tends to be
more curious. Lexi is a little tentative at first (especially around
people) but once she gets to know them, she is fine. She is also more
cuddly than Zor. She likes it when I sit her on my lap. They have a
great time playing with each other. My older dog tolerates them and I
think everyone is finally starting to get settled."
Roger has since moved to Florida and sent
us these updated photos of his two kids.
|
|
Dante now
"Raleigh's" new mom
Nancy and her friends drove up to our farm from Mid Michigan and
chose one of our boys. Nancy has told us, "He
is doing quite well. Loves going on walks and took to walking on a
leash easily. He also loves playing with ice cubes. He is getting
along as well as can be expected with my older dog."
|
|
Desiree now
"Peaches"
Cynthia from lower Michigan
contacted us about this little girl. Cynthia has told us, "Peaches
is doing so very well. Instead of going potty outside, she
decided that she wanted to use the litter box - which I have to tell
you is pretty funny. She snuggles when I hold her. I like
that - feels very sweet."
|
|

|
Duvall now "Wyatt"
Dawna from Wisconsin decided
to add another Standard poodle to her family and contacted us about
our apricot boy. Living in Mid Wisconsin and across Lake Michigan from
us presented a challenge at first because we don't like to ship our
puppies by air and she felt it was too far to drive around the lake to
our farm. So we suggested to try the Ferry that comes into Ludington
(which is a 40 minute drive for us) and she agreed.
Dawna has told us that Wyatt is everything
she had hoped for. He loves to cuddle and enjoys playing with her
other poodle, Holliday.
|
|
Dax
now "D'Artagnan"" Tanny"
MaryJo from South East Michigan has
given our Dax a new home. She was missing having a poodle to cuddle
after experiencing the loss of her standard boy, Charlie.
She has informed us............"His
full name is "D'Artagnan" with the nick name or call name
of Tanner. Of course he has been called baby dog, sweetheart, furry
face and about a bazillion other endearing love names since we first
laid eyes on him and he seems to respond to them all. Maybe it's
just my tone of voice. I can't tell you enough how special
this baby is and how I truly believe that we were meant to be a
great part of each others lives. I know my beloved Charlie had
a paw in making this wonderful connection happen.
Take care and thank you again for being a
part of the process that brought Tanner and me together."
Fondly,
Mary Jo
UPDATE:A word from Tanner and his Mom.
Tann is enjoying his time at puppy school. As I am unable to
properly work him on my left side as he should be I have found a
school where I take him every morning and pick him up
every afternoon where he works with with his own special
trainer and socializes with the other dogs. He LOVES it. He can
hardly wait to get inside to all his friends both human and canine
and they all LOVE him right back. Actually it's hard not to love him as
he is sweet and smart and precocious and just all around wonderful.
|
|

|
"Abby"
remained here at the farm and is an outgoing girl.
She likes to take
the lead and has been easy to train.
|
 |
"Marquette"
also remained here
at the farm. She is a tall elegant girl.
We hope to get both
these blue abstract girls in the multi-colored show ring or obedience.
|
|

|
"Dar"
Has also remained here at Rivers Edge and has blossomed into
quite an attractive boy. We are hoping to be able to show him in some
performance events.

|
"Dasher's" new dad
Ted liked our name "Dash" for this puppy so decided to
keep it. He lives nearby, Michigan and
was missing his black male poodle very much when he contacted us. We
both share the same veterinarian and so he was referred to us by them
. He has told us, "Dasher is doing fine. He
is extremely active except when he sleeps. We have been walking about
a half of a mile in the woods twice a day."
|

|
"Jasmine"
Sandra and Ron from Southern Michigan has
since told us, "Jazz is doing great. She is
sleeping well and playing hard. She is quite the cuddler which we
love. She is a wonderful little girl and we are really enjoying her.
Thanks for being such a great breeder."
UPDATE: Here are some pictures of Jazz
& Chauncey. They love to play and get along so well.
Jazz has been to obedience school. We really do love her!
|

|
"Sally"
Susan and Thomas both D.V.M.'s from Mid Michigan
wrote: "We wanted to let you know that
"Sally" is doing great and has become one of the family. She
is getting as much opportunity for socialization as a puppy could ask
for - she goes to work with my husband (the veterinarian) every day
and interacts with all the clients, both human and animal. She is very
popular at work and many people, both the staff and the clients,
marvel at what a great puppy she is. Your assessment of her outgoing
personality was accurate as she is cautious but not intimidated by the
large bold dogs. She is very friendly and outgoing towards people,
even strangers. Of course, she has had lots of exposure to kids as
well."
|

|
"Bellamy's" new
Mom
Ruth from South East Michigan drove
up a couple of times to our farm and decided on one of Mona's boys.
Ruth could some day live very close to us so we were happy that she
chose one of our poos. Bellamy also has proven to be quite an active
little boy and so Ruth has been getting him involved in a number of
classes. Ruth wrote to tell us:
He is doing very well. Not one
accident in the house since the first night when I brought him home
and did not get the door to the backyard open fast enough.
He loves to run thru the sprinkler.
(I should say fly. He runs so fast.) He has even set up
his own "agility" course in the yard. Running and
jumping thru and over my plants and shrubs and over the rocks
around the waterfall. I watch him and when he gets going
he does the same run around the perimeter of the yard and then
turns around and goes back the same way again over and over
until he gets tired. Never missing one jump or turn.
It's quite incredible. Maybe I should check into some agility
training. He sure does have the energy.
|

|
"Sophia's" new
family
Cathy and Dean from G.R. Michigan
visited us a couple of times to pick out and take home their girl. She
will be sharing her new home with another standard poodle friend,
"Valentino". Cathy has told us that "Sophia
likes to play hard but loves to snuggle allot too. We have fallen
desperately in love with her."
|
|

|
Ramona now "Molly's new
family
Our Ramona now "Molly" went to live with Gary and
Carol not far from us here in Michigan.
Molly will have another standard poodle, "Max" to play with
as well as horses . We have since heard, "Molly,
is a doll. She loves to follow our other poodle Max all around the
house and pasture, and she runs and runs and just seems to enjoy every
step."
Update08:
Molly is now about 2 1/2, and is pretty much my constant companion as
I work on our house. She is incredibly affectionate, loves to make up
and play games of all sorts, and is totally spoiled. She and our older
poodle Max get along wonderfully. We could not ask for a better dog!
Gary
|

|
"Raquel"
was going to live with an older couple but they decided a puppy
would be too much for them to train so we decided to let Raquel remain
here at the farm. She is our first apricot girl to show and we are
excited to see how she does in the ring. She is also very athletic so
we might even consider some performance events in her future.
