LS&I Equipment (current and past)

The Illinois Railroad Museum has two LS&I locomotives. Number 35 is a 2-8-0 Consolidation built by Baldwin in 1916. It has a booster attached to the front truck of the tender. I saw it on 10/9/98 and it did not have any lettering. Number 2407 is an RSD15 that has the LS&I bright red paint scheme, although the LS&I logo on the side is painted out, with the last owner, GBW painted in. The museum accepts donations for specific equipment maintenance and repair, so you may be interested in helping pay for track space or for repainting back to LS&I. They are taking votes on whether it should be LS&I or repainted to Santa Fe.

Pictures of these to come.

The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, WI has Consolidation (2-8-0) number 24, which was originally delivered to the Marquette & Southeastern, a predessor of the LS&I. They also have Coach number 62 and Combination/Coach number 63. I have not seen them, so I don't know what condition they are in.

The Grand Canyon Railway has ex-LS&I 2-8-0's 18 and 29.

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad has an ex-LS&I 2-8-0 built by Baldwin in 1916.
